Vice President JD Vance rallied Republicans at an airplane hangar in Livingston County on Tuesday, focusing mostly on the Senate race between Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan Public reported. Addressing Democratic claims that Rogers would give President Trump a "blank check," Vance said, "What Mike has done in this campaign, sometimes he has said things that have been independent of the administration," WDIV ClickOnDetroit reported. Michigan Public quoted Vance saying, "I don't want in Mike Rogers a servant for the administration."

Michigan Public reported that Vance suggested El-Sayed "allegedly came from Egypt," noting that El-Sayed was born in Rochester Hills, which Vance had mentioned earlier in the speech. Rogers called El-Sayed "the most radical, most extreme DSA-tied candidate in the country," WDIV reported, and Michigan Public said Rogers repeated claims linking El-Sayed to the Muslim Brotherhood that the station has described as spurious in a fact check. Vance blamed high energy costs on "tinpot dictators" and Democratic renewable energy policies, while Michigan Public noted federal agencies have tied the rise to the war on Iran.

Republican governor nominee John James, who faces Democrat Jocelyn Benson, told the crowd, "This will be a test of common sense versus crazy, and common sense will prevail," WDIV reported. Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel said Vance returned to brag about policies that have driven up costs for Michigan families and cited tariffs, the war in Iran and health care cuts, according to WDIV.
